Ethiopian Ministry of Education partners with UNICEF, Save the Children and SES to broadcast educational content on Ethiosat TV Platform

The Ethiopian Ministry of Education (MoE) and Regional Education 

Bureaus (REBs) with the support of UNICEF, Save the Children, and a leader in global content 

connectivity solutions, SES, have launched nine new educational TV channels on Ethiosat TV 

platform to enable the continuity of learning for school children who have been at home since 16 

March amid COVID-19 school closures.

Learning from home is not the same as going to school: Saeda’s story

 

Saeda is a 14-year-old girl who lives with her parents and her brother in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. Saeda is an 8th grader and a member of the children’s parliament in Addis Abeba that Save the Children supports through different local partners and school clubs. The support ensures that children and particularly adolescent girls like Saeda are meaningfully engaged in matters affecting their rights and advocate for other children’s rights themselves.

Breaking Taboos around Reproductive Health: Bearly’s story

Bearly, 16, is a grade eight student at Dhaytuli Full Cycle Primary School in Dollo Ado district of the Somali region. A second born to her parents having six children, Bearly is among the top performing students at her school and a very active member of the Girls Club established and supported by Save the Children’s NORAD funded education project.
