From a premature baby to a medical doctor: Save the Children and Partners mark Newborn Health Month and World Prematurity Day

Abeba Mengesha, 24, was born premature. She is now a medical doctor working as a lecturer at Adigrat University.

We met Dr Abeba on November 17, 2016 at the World Prematurity Day Celebrations organized by the Ministry of Health, Save the Children and other partners. She was one of the speakers at the event raising awareness on prematurity.

Our emergency food distribution work is reaching 383,000 people every month

Every month since November 2015, Save the Children is reaching 383,000 people affected by the drought with its food aid. Among these, 35,088 people are from female-headed households.

The emergency food assistance we are delivering in Meket, Gubalafto and Habru Woredas, North Wollo Zone of the Amhara region has now reached 42,246 Metric Tons and includes wheat grain, yellow split peas and vegetable oil.
