“Our dietary diversity was limited to one or two staple foods, but now, not only do we have dietary diversity but we also earn money by putting some of our vegetable on the market”, says Alemu.
Zenebu has been receiving emergency food assistance from USAID’s Joint Emergency Operation project throughout this year. The food distribution in late June near her village marked the third time she got food assistance.
Eight year-old Derartu came to the temporary shelter run by Mission for Community Development Program (MCDP) and stayed for a week. The project Children on the Move works to prevent unsafe migration and advance the rights of children on the move for protection, education and development.
Under its Literacy Boost initiatives, Save the Children has provided storybooks prepared in the local language to Filimon’s school – books with culturally appropriate content.
