Now my children can get nutritious food

Tiruwork, 50, is a mother of seven children and a grandson who lives in Adama town, in the Oromia Regional state. Tiruwork’s family is one of the several families whose lives and livelihoods has been upset by the Coronavirus  pandemic in the area. As a result, the family was selected as one of the cash beneficiaries Save the Children supports with its cash assistance project for households impacted by COVID-19 through funding from USAID.

“Two of my friends died when we were trying to get to Saudi Arabia”: Anisa’s Story

Anisa, 16 at Dire Dawa

Anisa, 16, has never been to school. In 2019, Anisa joined five of her friends from her village to leave her home village  Oromia Region’s Derer district for Saudi Arabia through Djibouti. Anisa’s search for better life in Saudi Arabia was cut short when she was caught and arrested in Djibouti and put prison before she was sent back home.
