Save the Children tells world leaders: Finance the future

The 3rd International Financing for Development Conference has started today in Addis Ababa where Heads of State, Finance Ministers and institutional stakeholders gather to discuss on how to guaranty support to the post-2015 development goals. Save the Children is playing a leading role along with partner agencies to ensure that there is adequate financing available with a particular attention in prioritising children and tackling inequality so that no one is left behind.

On Monday 13 July, UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon hosted the launch of the Global Financing Facility at the Every Woman Every Child (EWEC) event.  The purpose is to discuss the investment needed for every woman and child to survive and thrive by 2030. The presidents of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and World Bank has acknowledged EWEC as an important initiative in their statement. 

On 15 July, Save the Children South Africa's CEO, Gugulethu Ndebele will speak at a co-organised event on the impact of tax justice on social and economic status and financing sustainable development. 

Child representatives will pass the Race for Survival baton, holding key child survival messaging, to leaders through the event. Children have already met with ambassadors of Ghana, Brazil and Zambia and asked for their commitment to child survival.
