Save the Children, with  funding and in-kind support from DFID and UNICEF, has provided Non Food Items (NFI)  and WASH kits to people affected by flood in Somali region. The response is underway in Shebelle and Korahe Zones of the region in collaboration with government partners.

In April and May, we distributed NFI and WASH kits to over 25,000 people affected by the floods. The kits included kitchen set, blanket, sleeping mat, shelter set, bucket, and insecticide treated mosquito net as well as water Jeri-can, laundry soap, body soap and water purification chemicals.

We also deployed a Mobile Health Team that is providing advice on childcare and the importance of breastfeeding and the benefits of using the available maternal and child health services.

Communities who received our support were able to build temporary shelters.
