EVERY ONE Campaign Hawassa Race 2014

The EVERY ONE Campaign Hawassa Race took place on the 11th of May, 2014 in Hawassa, the capital city of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s region (SNNPR). The events, which include a VIP dinner, a pre-race entertainment, a newborn learning event, a police march band and races of different categories, brought together more than 10,000 participants in support of the Campaign and this year’s theme - Saving the lives of newborns.

The events saw senior government officials of SNNP including Vice President of the Regional Government Kifle Gebremariam and Mayor of Hawassa Yonas Yoseph and Save the Children and World Vision’s Country Directors, John Graham and Margaret Schuler respectively. Ethiopia’s legendary athlete Haile Gebre-Selassie and the country’s prominent actors Girum Ermias, Solomon Bogale and Samson Tadesse also expressed their unwavering support to the campaign, triggering unprecedented support for the EVERY ONE Campaign’s messages from crowds/participants.
