Sponsorship program organizes program learning event and school visit

Save the Children in Ethiopia's Sponsorship Program organized learning workshop and school visit from 5 - 7, December 2016 in Mekelle city, Tigray Regional State. The Sponsorship Program in South Eastern Tigray will come to an end in December 2016. The learning workshop and the visit is part of the program close out process.

“I am in a different world now”: Hear the story of Gebiya from our Educate a Child Program

14-year-old Gebiya became visually impaired at the age of three. Her parents, who considered her visual impairment a curse, did not send her to school. They also did not allow her to leave the house and play with other children until last year.

In September 2015, during the mapping of out-of-school children Keleb, a Special Needs Education teacher at Seleket School in Debia District of North Gonder Zone in Amhara region, identified Gebiya.

Provision of education in refugee camp improves lives of ex-child soldiers

“Learning beyond borders: Providing education to refugee and displaced children and youth in South Sudan and Ethiopia” is a program implemented by Save the Children with funding from the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) and Comic Relief. The Action purpose is to give conflict-affected children the chance to learn and shape a better future.
