$15.6 million fund secured in two months of the last fiscal year

Thursday 6 February 2014

Save the Children Ethiopia Country Office secured 15,636,179 USD in November and December, 2013. EU and the Scandinavian countries Finland, Denmark, and Norway donated the lion’s share of the grants. Out of it $3.3 m will be spent for education and child protection projects in Dollo Ado refugee camps.

The grants from Scandinavian countries will enable us to continue our work for children in Child Protection, Education, Health, DRR, and Child Rights Governance. EC SHARE-ARCE will work in WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), and Disaster Risk Reduction in Afar, Somali, and Amhara.

This brings the total amount of funds raised in 2013 to $61 million, secured through 50 proposals. Our 2014 budget (secured or likely) stands currently at $82m – that means we have sustained (and will likely grow) as one organization, compared to when we were seven (an impressive feat). Thanks to all who contributed to this strategic programme development, enabling Save the Children to deliver immediate and lasting changes in the lives of children.
