Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visits Save the Children projects in Ethiopia
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has visited Save the Children’s humanitarian and development programs in Ethiopia.
Britain's Princess Anne, who has been President of Save the Children UK since 1970, visited Save the Children’s maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) projects in Oromia Region and South Sudan refugees in Gambella Region.
Ethiopia hosts the largest number of refugees in Africa, sheltering more than 620, 000 refugees in 23 refugee camps of whom 247,000 are from South Sudan, making them the largest refugee population in the country.
While visiting Tierkidi Camp in Gambella, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal met and had discussions with children and mothers and saw Save the Children’s child protection, child friendly services and early childhood and care education projects.
During her three-day visit to Ethiopia, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal also met with Dr. Mulatu Teshome, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and exchanged views on strengthening support to improve the lives of vulnerable children and mothers in Ethiopia.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal also took part in the second anniversary of Save the Children members’ merger in Ethiopia and met with senior Ethiopian Government Officials, representatives of UN Agencies, donor communities and international organizations.
Her Royal Highness spends a significant amount of time visiting Save the Children projects overseas and in the UK, as well as meeting supporters across Britain.
