ENGINE reviews the project’s success and plans for an even better year IV

Hawassa was the location for this year’s annual project review and planning retreat for all ENGINE staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the year to bring to fruition the project’s goal of reducing stunting during the first 1000 days.

Chief of Party, Dr. Habtamu Fekadu praised all of the employees for their efforts and encouraged them to do even better in the coming year. Also present was USAID’s Agreement Officer’s Representative for the project, Mary Harvey, who branded the project’s accomplishments as ‘phenomenal’ and shared the results of the external midterm evaluation.

The four day retreat began with presentations on the progress made in project year III with regards to the project’s four Immediate Results (IRs), an update from implementation areas and research findings in various fieldsDays 2 and 3 were focused on detailed planning for the coming year IV, with advisors at hand to answer any queries and provide guidance.

 The final day was dedicated to reminding all those present of the central objective of all their activities in line with the project’s own goals. Child Safeguarding technical Advisor, Monalisa Bekele gave an extensive orientation of the role each individual plays in ensuring the safety of the children they help through their work and the importance of adhering to Save the Children’s vision and mission.

The retreat included sporting games and other team building and social activities that focused on team work and fun with the five regions competing in several different games and taking home trophies and other prizes.
